Although there is an increase in the incidence of autism, many employers continue to value and make adjustments for their employees with autism. This is due, in part, to the realisation by businesses that these individuals offer distinctive abilities, even though they may encounter some obstacles during their employment.

The “government jobs for autistic adults” is a list of the 30 best employers for people with autism. The list was created by a company called Autism Speaks and includes companies like Amazon, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and others.

Surprisingly, less than 1 in 6 persons on the autism spectrum are thought to work full-time. Even more depressing numbers may be found in the National Autism Indicators Report from Drexel University. Only 32% of people surveyed for the research had any paid job, and less than 16% had full-time paid employment. 51% of individuals in employment said that their talents were superior to what their present position required. Most astonishingly, 77% of people who are jobless claim they wish to work!

Fortunately, more and more small enterprises, major firms, and multinational organizations are recognizing the advantages of recruiting neurodiverse people. In fact, JPMorgan Chase’s Autism at Work initiative discovered that its more than 300 neurodiverse workers are generally 48% quicker and 92% more productive than their neurotypical counterparts. This change in business thinking is very beneficial for people with autism who wish to work. While there is undoubtedly still much work to be done, it is time to honor those who have already made significant strides. For a list of the top 30 jobs for autistic persons, scroll down.
